PTT fiber has both the characteristics of polyester and polyamide, which is easy to wash, quick to dry, good elastic recovery, and has better wear resistance and tensile recovery, and is more suitable for the production of composite fiber, elastic fabric, carpet and other materials. In addition to the advantages of polyester, PBT fiber also has better dyeing performance, and has become one of the differentiated fibers with promising development in the field of synthetic fiber. In addition, it also has better aging resistance, chemical reaction resistance and heat resistance, so that it is widely used in engineering plastics, home appliance shell and other fields. The emergence of these two new polyester fibers has not only broken the dominant situation of polyester fibers, but may even replace it within a certain range.

With the advent of PTT fiber and PBT fiber, polyester is no longer the exclusive domain of polyester. However, in practical detection, because these three fibers are difficult to be distinguished by ordinary methods, in theory, they can be identified by combining infrared spectroscopy and melting point method, but the identification process is also difficult. Therefore, according to the standard GB/T 4146.1-2009, the "polyester fiber" report will be issued under normal circumstances, and only when the client clearly requires, and the sample can be determined to be "polyethylene terephthalate (PET)", the testing agency can be identified as "polyester".
